4 Steps That Should Be in Your Daily Skincare Routine

Age is something that everyone should embrace. After all, getting older isn’t anything to be ashamed of, but rather something we should be proud of! With age comes wisdom, experience, and extraordinary experiences. Yet, there’s no harm in trying to look our best.

If there’s one foolproof way to look younger than you actually are, it’s to take care of your skin. By following the right skin care steps on a daily basis, you can shave years off of your face, and feel more confident overall. If you’re looking to improve your skincare routine, or if you don’t have one at all, here are four important daily steps that you should never miss.

Cleanse

Cleaning your skin is an important part of preserving its texture. Skin that has too much excess oil and dirt will start to take on a dull and lifeless appearance. Cleansing isn’t just important for aesthetics, either. Hygiene is an important part of being healthy and avoiding illness. In addition to your daily shower, always make sure that you wash your face, especially if you wear makeup.

Remember, anyone at any age can be susceptible to acne, so keep your skin clean to avoid pesky breakouts. Washing all of that away before you go to bed will make a world of difference and your skin’s health.

Moisturize

Moisturization is so important— even if you have naturally hydrated skin. Ideally, you should moisturize every time you wash your face, in the morning and at night. However, it’s important that you choose the right moisturizer. In the daytime, you should always wear a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30. At night, however, you should not wear sunscreen as it can enlarge your pores.  So, make sure that you buy a daytime moisturizer and a nighttime moisturizer, and apply as needed.

Exfoliate

You can forget about the apricot scrub your grandmother used to use. Exfoliating isn’t about being harsh or abrasive, but rather gently stripping away dead skin cells. In fact, exfoliation doesn’t require scrubbing at all.  Liquid exfoliants should be applied either with your hands or with a cotton swab at night. Simply rinse away with water in the morning to reveal clearer skin.

If you use a retinol moisturizer, it’s important that you don’t exfoliate and apply retinol on the same day, as it can be a lot for your skin at once. Ideally, you should alternate between the two to avoid red and irritated skin.

Massage

Massaging your skin can make a world of difference in how smooth it is. Whether you use a stone, a roller, or even your hands, massaging your skin will smooth fine lines, and also encourage better absorption of your facial products.
