3 Lifestyle Habits That Can Add Years to Your Face

In our younger years, we may not think much about the way our lifestyle will affect us throughout the years.  After all, in our 20s, it seems like our whole life is ahead of us. How could something we do today possibly affect us 20 to 30 years from now?

Yet, the truth is that your lifestyle choices will play a significant difference in how well you age. The way you treat your body in your 20s will determine your appearance over the age of 70. If you hope to maintain your youthful appearance, then here are some lifestyle habits that you should avoid at all costs.

Not Wearing Sunscreen

Regardless of how many benefits the sun may bring to our lives, from the food that we eat to the vitamins we draw from its warm rays, this blazing ball of light also comes with dangers. Sun exposure won’t just add wrinkles to your face, but it can also increase your chances of developing cancer.

And we’re not just talking about sunny days, either. The sun can be harmful even on overcast days, which is why you should always wear sunscreen, even on a cloudy afternoon. In addition to wearing sunscreen, you should also protect your faith and shoulders from the sun by wearing a large hat when in direct sunlight. This will help maintain glowing and youthful skin, with much fewer fine lines and wrinkles.

Eating Excessive Amounts of Processed Foods

Remember that old saying, “we are what we eat”? In case you didn’t realize it by now, it’s true! Your diet plays a considerable role in how well you age. Eating a healthy diet will help you keep a trim figure, and also maintain a healthy complexion.

Filling up on processed and fatty foods won’t just increase your chances of acne, but it can lead to a dull and lifeless complexion. Fill up on your vitamins and nutrients, and you can’t go wrong.

Lack of Sleep

In today’s fast-paced modern world, many of us try to fit in as much as we can to our schedules. From family time to gym time, to work time, our days can be jam-packed, leaving us with less room for sleep than we should ideally have.  However, skipping too many hours of sleep will quickly start to show itself on your face. Not to mention, lack of sleep can make you grumpier, and when you’re grumpy you have a furrowed brow. In other words, more wrinkles! Do yourself a favor and get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.  You won’t just look better in your older years, but you’ll also improve your memory, mood, and ability to focus.
