Why did I bother getting this?
I must confess, I’m a bronzer junkie. I have many many bronzers in my collection and still felt I was missing out without having a bronzer from Too Faced (I need help, I know). If you know anything about applying bronzers you know they can be kind’a tricky. Their colors vary immensely and they show up significantly different for every skin tone. I wear bronzers year round (to contour or to change the color of my skin slightly) and decided to give this Too Faced French Riviera Edition a try, taking in to account that if something doesn’t work for summer it might work later for winter.
Where can you get it?
I got this Too Faced Bronze and Beautiful French Riviera Palette at the Too Faced Website. They had a 20% off offer for the purchase, plus free shipping AND they sent me a free flatbuki as well :-) Great way to butter me up, Too Faced!
What did I find in the package?
The package is a well made cardboard box. It opens with a magnetic seal. After opened the top part has a small hidden pocket with 3 cards which show you different ways to create the perfect bronze. A nice touch if you’ve never ever used something similar. The lower part has 4 different powders and a primer. The products included are called Too Faced Chocolate Soleil, Too Faced Sun Bunny, Too Faced Powdered Sun, Too Faced Snow Bunny and Too Faced Primed and Poreless Bronze Tint. Too Named, anyone?
Some pictures of the Too Faced the Bronze and the Beautiful French Riviera Edition:
Chocolate Soleil – matte pure brown bronzer. This is my favorite Too Faced Product. The smell of this bronzer makes me want to eat it, ha ha! It remains me of an orchid I have called ‘Sharry Baby’, which has a similar, sweet, chocolaty, delicious scent. I’m very sensitive to most scents and this bronzer manages to win my heart over and over. This baby has no orange undertones at all and that makes it very unique. Great for bronzing as well as contouring.
Sun Bunny – This shimmery bronzer has some orange tones. In my skin tone it goes brown with a touch of golden shimmer. I like the color and can use it by itself or with any blush.
Snow Bunny – This soft mocha-pinkish bronzer has fine shimmer. It truly makes the skin look radiant but I have to heavily apply it to get the full effect.
Powdered Sun – glitter here, glitter there, glitter, glitter everywhere! This highlighting powder is golden with chunks of gold glitter. I might use this for my brow bone but I won’t be using it for my cheeks.
Primed and Poreless – This bronze tinted face primer has a whip like consistency. When I first saw it I thought about a chocolate mousse (yes, i know, the only thing in my mind is chocolate) It goes in very smooth on the skin and when dry it doesn’t feel tacky or sticky at all. It’s designed to diminish the appearance of pores but I haven’t seen a difference there at all. Even though the color of the primer is dark brown it doesn’t change my skin tone at all. This primer has 20 spf which I like because it acts as a sunscreen as well.
What is the Verdict?
Too Faced is known for their bronzing powders, so this might be a good way to sample a few of them in one compact kit. You can probably use this palette all year round and adjust depending on how your skin color changes with the seasons. The only other bronzer not included in this kit is Too Faced Beach Bunny which I haven’t tried yet. The ones I wouldn’t do without are Chocolate Soleil and Sun Bunny. Snow Bunny is also really nice but I have to use a heavy hand to make it visible on my skin. I don’t think I would go buy Powdered Sun by itself since I don’t think I’ll be using it that much. The primer is just like any other primer I own, and there’s nothing special about this one that would make it stand out from the others.
Do you own any bronzers? What’s your favorite?
