Why did I consider getting the Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Rose Rendezvous?
The first time I saw this powder was in The Best Things in Beauty Blog back in October 2011. I didn’t think I was going to get it back then, since I have so many highlighthers! Why would I need one more? I couldn’t stop thinking about it, however, because of the reviews in Sephora and some pictures I saw online.
When I finally decided to get it, it was out of stock at Sephora… How could that be possible?? I finally found it available at Nordstrom and got it immediatly. That same day I saw a review in Liz’s Beauty Black Book and was so glad I’d gotten it. She reinforced the idea that this is an awesome illuminator, and she was right!
Where can you get it?
You can buy this Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Rose Rendezvous online at Sephora.com
What did I find in the package?
You get a brown compact and mirror but no brush. The actual powder product has a gorgeous rose pattern in a gold metallic finish. All together it’s 6.0 g / 0.2 oz.
Time to try it. What did it do for me?
When I first opened this compact I didn’t want to touch it. I just wanted to pet it all day (crazy right?). The rose pattern is soooooo beautiful. The texture is soft.. it feels very refined, almost a bit creamy. The color is a light pink/gold with a metallic and frosty finish. I thought it would be similar to my Guerlain Terra Inca Sublime Radiant Powder, but they’re completely different. Rose Rendezvous is truly frosty and light in color while Terra Inca is more tan / rose / gold and less frosty. Rose Rendezvous blends perfectly, almost effortlessness. It can be used to highlight the cheekbones and the brow bone to perfection. It wears for about 6 hours if applied to the face and 8 or more if applied with a primer to the eyes. It has no fragrance at all.

What is the Verdict?
This is a beautiful highlighter powder. It’s a limited edition item and was sold out at Sephora.com last time I looked. Given that the formula is frosty and metallic, I think you have to like that type of look to like this product. If you don’t, you might not like this highlighter. Even though I’m glad I got, I won’t tell you that I couldn’t survive without it. I would recommend it overall, if like frosty finishes, or if you love makeup and would like to try something different.
