Why did I get the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation?
Giorgio Armani’s Highlighter was the first product I bought from this brand. The minute I used it, I was so impressed with the quality that I knew I had to try their foundation. Buying this foundation online was a leap of faith, since I never tried it in a counter before. I didn’t know about the coverage and consistency, and worst of all, I didn’t know the color that would match my skin! Everything about buying this foundation was an adventure. But it was one adventure I’m glad I jumped into!!!
Where can you get this?
I got my Giorgio Armani Foundation at the Armani Website.
What did I find in the package?
The package for this foundation feels extra sturdy and well made. Just like with other Giorgio Armani products, the bottle is crystal and the lid is a pretty big black lid. The foundation dispenser is a pump which makes it very hygienic. It packs 0.17 oz of product.
Time to try it. What did it do for me?
Let me tell you my experience with it after using it non stop for three weeks in a row. The foundation in my opinion is on the liquid side (although still quite thick). Is not a cream foundation compared to Graftobian or Eve Pearl, but it’s not watery by any means.
I usually use 1.5 pumps to cover my whole face and neck. It’s very easily applied with the fingers but I rather use my Sigma Flat Kabuki Brush (F80) to apply it since it gives me an airbrush finish. In my opinion the coverage with this foundation is moderate. It doesn’t feel cakey or heavy on the skin. Win, right?
It covers redness very well but it doesn’t cover blemishes. I find I need a separate concealer if I want to cover everything. I never thin this foundation out because I feel that if I do it would end up not covering anything at all, so I use it as it comes out of the package.
I have very dry skin so I love dewy foundations. I usually don’t set my foundations with powder. That’s what I like the most about this foundation, the dewy look I get after using it. It’s kind of hard to describe the type of glow it has. It’s not shimmer, but more like a “wet” look.
It photographs very well. There are no weird reflections, shadows or anything else noticeable because of the flash.

What is the Verdict?
My verdict boils down to this: Money! There are so many foundation formulas on the market nowadays that trying to justify $60 for a bottle of this foundation to me is overkill. If this was the foundation to knock all the other foundations out of the park I would gladly pay the price. But that it is NOT.
Yes, it blends very well and it looks very natural on the skin… but so do many others in the market. Skip this unless you want to splurge and just have an itch to get it, not because it will be so much better than other foundations out there.
