Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks Review (Spring 2012 Limited Edition)

I was excited to pick up these two Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks at my local Ride Aid store not too long ago. I was just drawn immediately to the coral/orange shade named Coral Carnation. The package reminds me a little bit of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. The outer cover has different colors depending on the shade of the lipstick. The inner cover is silver colored and looks very nice.

I can’t put my finger on the scent of these lipsticks. I’d say it’s kind of vanilla but mixed with something else (I just can’t make out what that would be). They have a beautiful sheen to them and I don’t even consider wearing a lipgloss when I wear these. The colors are beautiful and they are very pigmented. They didn’t dry my lips out; however, they weren’t particularly moisturizing either. These Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks had a wear time of about 2 hours on my lips. I know that’s not super long lasting.. but, not many lipsticks are long lasting for me anyway.

Here’s a description of the colors:

Tigerlily Treat: Cool tone, blue base pink. I love the color but I think it would look better in fair to medium skin tones. It has to be built up with a couple of swipes to get fully opacity.

Coral Carnation: Red tone, orange color. It’s not super bright or intense to make it unwearable. Since orange is the color of the year I think this is a great way to get that pop of color without breaking the bank.
