Why did I consider getting the MAC Jungle Camouflage Face Kit?
When I saw the Carine Roitfeld collection from MAC I immediately fell in love with the gorgeous browns included in both palettes (this one being MAC Camouflage Face Kit, the other one Desert Camouflage Face Kit). Intrigued by the neutral and cool shades I decided to try them out myself.
Where can you get it?
I got the MAC Jungle Camouflage Face Kit online at Nordstrom.com
What did I find in the package?
This square palette is all sleek black and has the initials of Carine Roitfeld engraved in the front. Once opened you find a mirror on the top lid, and two different trays. The top tray has 4 eyeshadows and the lower one a cremeblend blush. Each eyeshadow contains 0.22 oz and the cremeblend blush contains 0.18 oz. I really like the compact’s sleek design.
Time to try it. What did it do for me?
Begin rant: What is it with MAC and some of their latest limited edition products?! It drives me insane to pay a lot of money for a product that’s just not worth it. I love the colors in the pan and they are right up my alley. However, once I started playing with them I realized how hard they are to blend and how patchy and dry they feel. Dew is the only one with decent pigmentation in this palette for me and fairly easy to blend. Camo, Bad Lieutenant and Carbon were a pain to blend and just to get an even application. Rant’s over. :)
The Cremeblend Blush Bootcamp Bronze has a light brown color with a slightly dewy finish. The formula is creamy which makes it very easy to blend over the cheeks. I personally love it to contour my cheek bones or as an “all-over-pick me-up”. This is the only product I would use from this palette every day.
Here’s a description of the colors in this palette:
- Dew: Soft creamy beige (Veluxe Pearl)
- Camo: Muted grayish taupe (Satin)
- Bad Lieutenant: Blackened deep brown (Matte)
- Carbon: Intense black (Matte)
- Bootcamp Bronze: Soft sheer chestnut

What is my Verdict?
This is marketed as the perfect smokey eye palette. I highly disagree with that. There are many other palettes out there similar in price that will give you a much better bang for your buck and absolutely better smokey eyes, so this one is all hype but does not really deliver. I would say, skip it and I don’t say that often. :(
