Why did I bother getting this?
Ok, so I have a confession to make. I watch Hispanic soap operas. Sure, judge me, go ahead :-). I grew up with them, and although they’re terrible in terms of acting and plot and pretty much everything else, I still watch them from time to time. Must be a genetic thing, ha ha ha.
I recently bought a couple of different products from Graftobian based on this video I saw online posted by an actress working in the Brazilian soap opera production Caminho Das Índias – (Side Note: BEST soap opera EVER!). Anyways, the main character always had a lot of color and interesting makeup on her, so when I saw this video, I was immediately interested.
Here’s a picture of the actress Juliana Paes, in her role as Maya. Don’t you just love the makeup?
Her skin looked always soooo gorgeous on TV that I wanted to look like her! Of course, who wouldn’t? :)
This HD Glamour Creme Palete was on the video she made about her makeup in the soap opera, where I learned about Graftobian for the very first time (video is in Portuguese though, so I had to figure some things on my own.. my Portuguese is non-existent).
Where did I get it?
I bought it from the Graftobian website for $23.99, but you can also get them at any of the Graftobian dealers listed on their site. I’ve also seen it advertised in Amazon and Ebay, so it shouldn’t be hard to find.
What did I find in the package?
The packaging is plastic but feels sturdy – the compact size makes it great for travel given how slim and compact it is. I would have uploaded a picture here of the actual product but I didn’t take a picture when I got it and now I’ve used it so much that it looks like a mess. So, instead of a messy ugly picture, I decided to use this one from the Gratfobian site. Next time, I’ll use my own.
Time to try it! What did it do for me?
I love this palette because not only does it feel great on my dry skin but it feels light. I use it both as a foundation and as a contour. It blends so well. To find the perfect foundation color for my skin I tend to mix the first two colors together. Since my skin is darker during the summer months these colors work better for me. When my skin gets lighter during the winter I may need to work with palette Warm #2, we’ll see.
To apply this foundation I use the Sigma Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki – F80 or a damp sponge. So you have some idea for comparison, I use Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, NC40 shade color. Another point of reference would be that I use Eve’s Pearl HD Foundation in Medium. Those are good pointers on what shades I use in other brands.
I also use this palette to contour my cheeks. What I do is dab the Small Duo Fibre – F55 in the last three shades, then tap the brush bristles in my wrist, then apply below my cheekbones to create a nice contour of them.
But again, I will mix, mix, mix, then blend, blend, blend to get the best results.
I’ve recreated Maya’s eye and face look before using Graftobian and MAC products. I’m curious as to what would be more interesting for readers. What do you think, would you like to watch a video on how to recreate the look… or would you rather like to see some pictures here? Both? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
What is the Verdict?
Great price for a great product. For all the product I get I think it’s ideal since a little goes a long way. It has a good creamy texture that goes on like butter and offers amazing coverage. It feels very light and lasts through the day.
Don’t get me wrong, I still prefer my Eve Pearl HD Dual Foundation which feels lighter on my skin but I found this one to be a great comparable at a fraction of the price (isn’t it great to have options!?) Actually, I like this one a bit better for contouring than my Eve Pearl one, so there you go. Opinions, opinions. Feel free to share your experience below!
For those of you how would be using this to work with different people with different skin tones, I think these little palettes would do the trick. The warm #3 is not the only foundation palette they have, they also have cool #1,2,3 neutral #1,2,3 and warm #1,2,3 They have basically every single shade under the sun, so no complaining about them not having something for you! :-)
One last thing, I don’t need any powder to set it since I have very dry skin. It melts and blends amazingly. So affordable and it lasts forever. Whether I use a primer or not this foundation will stay put through the day. Highly, highly recommended.
