Why did I consider getting the Eve Pearl Foundation?
After listening many times to Marlena from MakeupGeek talk about Eve Pearl’s Salmon Concealer, I finally decided to research the Eve Pearl line of cosmetics. I found Eve Pearl’s youtube channel and started watching her videos where she demonstrates her makeup techniques. This was the first time I learned about her line of cosmetics and the great benefits they offer beyond just looking beautiful. One of such products featured was the Eve Pearl Foundation.
If you’ve never heard of Eve Pearl, well let me tell you! She is a 5 times Emmy Award Winning celebrity makeup artist as well as the author and producer of ‘Plastic Surgery without the Surgery, the Miracle of Makeup Techniques’ (Book & DVD). She’s had an incredible career as a celebrity Make-up Artist (at the very highest levels of TV, theatre, print and film). On top of that, Eve has spent years developing her relatively new premium product line called (appropriately) “Eve Pearl”. If you want to read more about her, you can see her blog profile here.
To be honest, I have not read her book nor I have watched the DVD but after watching many of her videos online I was more than intrigued to try give her products a shot. To me, the most interesting fact about these products seems to be what’s inside of them. They state their key ingredient is a ‘very potent anti-oxidant’, which is supposed to improve skin condition naturally without harsh chemicals or dangerous procedures (that sounds good to me!). It’s also supposed to be anti-aging and anti-inflammatory, among other things. Now, I have no idea if these are all true, but I really, really wanted to try them because of the great reviews.
Where did I get it?
I bought it from the Eve Pearl website.
What did I find in the package?
I ordered the Medium HD Foundation based on a recommendation from Karla on the Eve Pearl staff (thank you Karla!). Inside the foundation box you find a compact inside a velvet pouch. The compact has 2 different shades. There’s a light side and a dark side, but they complement each other. There’s a piece of plastic that covers the foundations and the compact has a mirror as well. It’s good quality all over, similar to other MAC or NARS products I’ve tried before.
Time to try it. What did it do for me?
The first thing I have to say about this foundation is that my skin feels like it’s wearing a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y nothing. I can build it up to have more coverage and it still feels barely there, like I have nothing at all. No makeup whatsoever. Is not sticky, cakey, or oily. I don’t even use a setting powder and it stays on all day long. I love its creamy consistency and it blends effortlessly with a wet sponge or even a brush. I use the lighter side use in my jaw line, upper forehead, and on my eyelids (as a base). The darker side I use in my cheeks, around my nose, in my chin and my lower forehead (I’ve also used the darker side to contour my face and to cover any redness or blemishes I might have). I use a combination of the two down my nose.
What is the Verdict?
This is truly an amazing foundation. I’ve bought many different foundations before (and sadly wasted my money) and ended up almost throwing them away either because I simply did not like them, because they could not match my skin tones, or because I didn’t like the consistency. This foundation seems to have it all: amazing coverage, blends like a breeze, can be used to contour, non greasy texture, has a natural sunblock, ideal for sensitive skin and the best feature to me is once it is on you feel like you are wearing absolutely nothing. It feels like your normal skin and not like a mask. I cannot really comment on the CosmeNutrients® formula, but hopefully in the future I can talk to the effects of using the foundation on my skin.
The product is a bit pricey compared to others, so to me, this is a luxury product. I’m so glad I splurged a little and decided to get it.
