Why did I bother getting this?
Bronzers are my weakness. They truly are. I’m a sucker for bronzers. I don’t know what it is about them. It may be the fact that they warm up your face, perk up really pale skin and sometimes even give you a beautiful glow. One day I was watching a video on YouTube about July favorites from Amarixe where she started talking about how wonderful this bronzer was. I was intrigued by the seemingly magical powers of the bronzer and decided to give it a try (who can resist, right?). Also, I had never tried a Chanel product before and this bronzer with a unique consistency got my attention.
Where can you get it?
I got this Soleil Tan de Chanel at Norsdrom.com.
What did I find in the package?
The bronzer comes in a tub or big jar with the Chanel logo on the top of the lid. You get 1oz of the product. It has an extra insert inside to prevent the cream/mousse product from drying out. It’s got a solid whipped cream texture which melts on your skin without a greasy or silicon feel.
I asked my husband the other day to tell me what it smelled like. He said ‘cheap shampoo’. Granted, my husband’s nose is not that great, but I’ll go with his description. It smells this way when you smell it inside the jar, but when you apply it, it loses the smell so it is good for me, since I can’t handle strong scents.
Also, when you look at it on the jar it has tiny little golden speckles. But again, once applied to the skin you can’t see any golden at all. Makes for a nice effect in the jar.
Time to try it. What did it do for me?
This bronzer seems really different from any bronzer product I own. The consistency is really like a hard mousse but once applied on the skin it feels like a gel blush. It doesn’t feel powdery or chalky. It works wonders with my dry skin since it doesn’t show any dry patches or flakiness. It actually feels moisturizing!!!
The color is not too orange, red or brown. I’m NC40 and this works with my skin color wonderfully. I have used the Soleil Tan de Chanel both as a bronzer and a blush, it’s really versatile. Just apply in layers to add a gradual warmth to the cheeks.

What is the Verdict?
This is the only Chanel product I have in my makeup stash to date and Ooohhh dear, what a wonderful product it is. I am in <3 with this bronzer. I understand why they call it the Bronzing Makeup Base. You could actually apply this product all over your face without any foundation and get away with it. The consistency of this bronzer is so unique I wish you could put your finger in the picture and touch it for yourself :-) I use a Large Angled Contoured Brush or an Angled Top Synthetic Kabuki brush which give me an incredible application time and time again. Blending this bronzer with these brushes is a breeze.
All in all, this product gives me a gorgeous glow, warms up my complexion, blends evenly and doesn’t look orange! Hurray! Worth every penny!
